3D Quilling dolls is her current favourite! What really inspires Dheepika, her
tips for fellow crafters, her favourite quote, how would she contribute to
crafting world if she had magical powers ?? To know all these & to know
more about her journey, please do visit our blog & leave your comments for
her:
Here are excerpts of my interview with Dheepika:
Rashmi Closepet, MD, Itsy Bitsy : Tell us a bit about yourself & your
background?
Dheepika Vasudhevan : Hey team Itsy-bitsy and thousands of fellow fan following
(that includes me as well J)- thank you for giving me
pat on my back to all my work and it’s been a good long ride- be it shopping,
or on the exuberance of our pet projects. And yeah, I’m Dheepika Vasudhevan- a
Fashion tech graduate from renowned institution at Coimbatore (TN). I was born,
raised and living in an uptown called- Tiruppur. I am into this madness of
creating new art-works for about last 5 years. Sounds good for resume? ;)
RC: How did you get
into crafting?
DV: Colors, Crafts, Drawing, Pictures, Painting - I always live
in the world of fantasy since my childhood (the kid in Taare Zameen
Par-check!). While my mom insists on Mathematics to my sister (who later went
on to become an Engineer par Business graduate), mom left things to my choice.
I think it was inside in me always, I remember making handmade gifts to my
n(d)ear ones- at the age of 12. It was then in 2015 after a warm breathing
period post my under graduation, I decided my calling, a creative business of
my own!
RC: What is your
favourite type of craft?
DV: Well, to someone who loves to learn/ experiment new avenues
of crafting- there’s no one favorite. But if you ask me what’s cooking on my
craft table right now, its 3d quilling dolls and Props.
RC: What are your
favourite products at Itsy Bitsy?
DV: Every time I hover over Itsy
Bitsy in my bookmarks, I set myself up for the goosebumps. Stamps, Stencils,
Embossing folders, Dies, Pigment inks- to what not.
RC: What
products from Itsy Bitsy do you think are must have’s for a crafter?
DV: I’d recommend for Big Shot machine, anyday!
RC: What
product would you like to see at Itsy Bitsy?
DV: Hmm, Matching stamp, Die sets.
RC: You draw inspiration from?
DV: My family, like for any other Indian crafter, is my
inspiration. In my childhood, if not my parents stood for what I liked and
passionate about, I wouldn’t have been here. (Agree- long way to go!) And make
sure, you’re surrounded with the creative people.
RC: What
are your other interests?
DV: I can just lie on my bed and keep watching Movies and
Primetime TV Shows for any given time. (And hey, Netflix at home!).. and these
days, when I am not crafting or watching YouTube tutorials, I am into lifting
my Canon 700D kit and roam around.
RC: If
you had magic powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world
?
DV: Ah, here’s the one I was looking for. If I were so, I’ll get
the magic wizard to create the artistic sense in just every human- to make
world look more beautiful and relish more joy, every day.
RC: Your
prized possession in your craft stash?
DV: I treat every single craft item in my stash as a prized
possession. That is me. J
RC: How would you describe your style
of crafting?
DV: I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag (the USP!). Jokes
aside, crafting is a journey. Every time, it’s working with different set of
base products and supplies, attempting to make something new, something
different and getting better on with time. Adopting new techniques and ideas is
the key- and in the era of Internet, it’s even a cakewalk. The style which
marries forms and elements together is me.
RC: How
do you organize your time for crafting?
DV: I’m a full time artist- although I love to play night-owl- in
most cases.
RC: Tips
for people who want to craft?
DV: Keep exploring! .. There are mammoth of supplies available
these days that enable us to try and learn. There is nothing right or wrong, as
long it is new. Make mistakes often, create new way of doing things and above
all, the journey has to be joyful. Period!
RC: Your all -time favourite quote?
DV: Eat-sleep-create-repeat.
