Floral Wreath - Ribbon Flowers
Hey Friends,
Let me welcome you all back to yet another tutorial on
Ribbon Flowers.
Its festive time all around the world. The time when we beautify
our home to welcome our loved ones. So today’s post is related to a home decor
project – A floral Wreath.
For the flowers, buds & leaves we would require
different length ribbons from 1Inch satin ribbon
pack – Citrus.
Pollen stems,
Calyx & Pearl filler
Before we start with main flowers let us first prepare the various
parts of it we would require.
1.
To prepare pollen stems we require Flower
making green stem & white glass pollen bunches.
Make a small loop on one end of the green wire as shown in the picture above
& use only half of the pollen bunch for one stem.
2.
Gather both ends of the pollen on one side and place
the looped end of the green wire between then. Now tie them with a thread to
make pollen stems.
3.
For the calyx, cut the shape shown in the
picture above out of the mint green Ribbon.
4.
Seal the edges of the calyx using a T-light
candle.
5.
For pearl fillers we require Flower making silver
stem & white
plastic pearls 6mm. Add a pearl to the wire and then twist the wire 5-6
times. Then again add a pearl and repeat.
6.
Make 10-12 pearls fillers of different sizes. Make
few with 4 pearls, few with 5 and some with 6 pearls.
Flowers
Ribbon length for the flower petals – 5.5 cms.
1.
Take 2 pcs of 5.5 cms ribbon. Cut them diagonally; one of them from bottom left – top right corner & the other one
from bottom right – top left corner. Refer the picture above. Out of these 4
cut pcs we can make 2 petals. Use both the ‘A’ parts to make one petal and ‘B’
part for the other. Thus to make 5 petals we will need 6 pcs of ribbon.
2.
Hold both the ‘A’ pcs back to back (wrong side
of the ribbon inside) and match the edges. Now using a straight tweezer hold
the diagonal edges together and seal them using a T-light candle. Do not run
the edge through the flame, just run it near the flame.
3.
By sealing both the diagonal edges together,
both the pcs are attached together to form a petal like shown in the picture
above.
4.
Seal the bottom edges using a T-light candle.
5.
Now using a needle and thread stitch (Running stitch)
the bottom edge as shown in the picture above. Pull the thread to gather the
bottom and fix the thread with a knot.
6.
Now holding the correct side to the candle flame,
curl the top point of the petal. Hold the petal much above the flame. The ribbon
will bend the moment it catches a little heat. At that point shape the petal as
desired with your fingers.
7.
Finally the petal will look like this.
Assembling the flower
8.
Once the petals are ready, using a hot glue gun start
attaching them.
9.
Attach each petal only at the bottom 1/3 part.
10.
Each flower is of 5 petals.
11.
Glue down
the 5th and the 1st petal and pass the pollen stem
through the flower. Attach the stem using glue gun.
12.
Add around 5-6 calyx and finally finish the
flower by attaching a bead
cap. We can also use a flower
cap.
Make around 10 – 12 flower in different colour (Light
Yellow, Golden Yellow & Orange) from the ribbon pack.
Buds
Ribbon length for the bud petals – 3.5 cms. Follow steps 1-7 of flower petals
to make bud petals. Each bud requires 3 petals.
Assembling the bud
1.
Make the centre of the bud using white plastic
pearl 14mm & Flower
making green stem. Attach the pearl to the wire as shown in the picture
above.
2.
Then using hot glue gun stick each petal to the
pearl.
3.
A bud is made using 3 petals.
4.
Add around 6 – 8 calyx and finally finish the
bud by attaching a bead cap.
Leaves
Ribbon length for the leaves – 7 cms. Follow steps 1-7 of flower petals to
make each leaf.
Wreath
For the wreath we require an old carton box, burlap cord,
Gesso and Golden Ribbon.
1.
To make the base of the wreath, cut an old
carton box to a 12” circle and then 10” circle within the bigger one. You can also use a 2mm Chipboard to make this wreath. to add more strength to the base you can double it.
2.
Once the ring is ready paint the base with white
gesso.
3.
Now cover the wreath base with burlap cord. I
had left some space at regular intervals. The burlap cord is made into a braid
and then stuck to the base. This gives the cord a little volume and texture.
4.
To cover up the gaps a 6mm golden tissue ribbon is required.
Lastly arrange the flowers, buds & leaves on the wreath
and pearl fillers to cover empty spaces and Taddaaa.....

Ribbon Flower Hair Accessories...
Hello Friends
Ribbon flowers have always been a crafter's favourite. They
enhance the look of your projects. One of the best ways of using these ribbon
flowers is in hair accessories.... Today I'm sharing how to make some of my
personal favourite ribbon flowers and will use them in making some hair
accessories.
Hairband
For this beautiful Hairband I have used different size satin ribbons, rhinestone, felt sheet, an old hairband (from my stash of hair
accessories) & Itsy Bitsy's Silicon Glue (This glue saved me from using the hot glue gun for these accessories. I absolutely fell in love with it).
Lets start with the flower first. For the flower I have used:
Using a T-light candle I had sealed both the ends of all the ribbon
pieces. Next I started shaping each petal.
1. Keeping the wrong side of the ribbon
facing up, I folded the ribbon into 90° downwards from the centre.
2. Next I folded the A end and placed it on the B
end as shown above.
3. Then folded the corners inside partially
overlapping each other.
4. Lastly I held these folds securely with a
straight tweezer and sealed the bottom edge using a T-light candle. ( just move
the edge near the flame and not into the flame. Repeat till all the folds melt
and stick to each other. While doing so make sure the edge is not burnt or the
ribbon does not turn black).
5. Front look of the petal once the edge was sealed.
6. Backside of the petal.
7. I repeated the same process for
all the ribbon pieces cut.
Next comes the assembling of the petals to form the flower. Every petal
is stuck to the base using Itsy Bitsy’s Silicon glue.
1. I used a 4cms cardstock circle for the base. Then
start arranging the dark pink petal. The 1st layer had 11 dark pink petals which I stuck to edge of the circle.
2. The 2nd layer was again of dark
pink petal. This time I stuck 9 petals slightly inner than the 1st
layer.
3. 3rd layer had 7 - 1” light
pink petals and 4th layer had 5 – 1” light pink petals.
4. 5th layer had 5 – ½”
light pink petals. Lastly I added a big rhinestone in the center.
Taada!!! And the flower was ready...
Now lets see how I did the ribbon weaving on the Hairband. For the
ribbon weaving I used ½” white ribbon – approx 5mtrs (the length on the ribbon
may vary depending on the hairband size).
1. I started the weaving from both the ends of
the ribbon and named them as left ribbon & right ribbon. Made a ½” loop on the
right ribbon. (The loop size will depend on your ribbon size.)
2. Then made a loop on the left ribbon and
passed it through the right loop.
3. Next made a loop on the right ribbon and then passed it through the left loop.
4. Then pulled the left ribbon to tighten the
loop.
5. To secure the entire weaving I turned it around and using silicon glue stuck the ribbon at the point the needle is inserted in
the picture above. Once the silicon glue was dry, I snapped off the extra ribbon end
seen below the needle.
6. After the weaving was secure it looked like
this.
7. Then turned the entire weaving to the front and
made a loop on the left ribbon and passed it through the right ribbon loop. Then pulled the right ribbon to tighten the loop. Step 3, 4 & 7 were repeated till I got the
desired length of the weave. The length depends on the hairband size.
8. The ribbon weaving looked like this.
9. Once the desired length of the weaving was achieved, I secured the right ribbon end by sticking the ribbon at the point the needle is shown in the picture above.
10. Then the left ribbon end was secured at the back of the weaving at the point the needle is showing in the picture above.
Once the glue was dry I snapped off the extra loop.
11. Finally the weaving was secured and the end
looked like this.
12. Lastly I adhered the ribbon weaving to the
hairband using Itsy Bitsy’s Silicon Glue and then adhered the flower to the
hairband at the desired place.
Brooch Pin & Hair Clip
For this set of brooch pin & Hair clip I have used the
beautiful Teal & light green colour 1” satin ribbon, pearls, felt sheet,
barrette clip 85mm x 10mm, saree brooch pin and the amazing Silicon glue.
Lets check out how these flowers were formed.
1. I started by covering the Saree brooch
clip with felt sheet.
2. Same I did with the barrette clip. Wrapped
it with felt sheet in & out
3. Next I took 1” light green satin ribbon
and sealed its edge using a T-light candle. Then folded the ribbon edge
diagonally as shown in the picture above and cut it at the inside edge. This
gave me a square. I needed 5 such squares as the flower has 5 petals.
4. Here I took each square & folded it
diagonally.
5. Then holding the ribbon as in picture 4, I
made the right corner to meet the top centre point and sealed this edge using
T-light candle.
6. Repeated the same with the other corner.
7. Lastly folded the petal backward and
holding it with the tweezer as shown in the picture above, sealed the bottom
corner from behind. It looked like pinched from the front.
The same process was used to make 15 Teal colour petals. Once all
the petals were ready I assembled each flower with 5 petal on a small cardstock
circle with silicon glue and then stuck 1 teal flower on the saree brooch pin
and 3 flowers on the barrette clip.
This is my personal favourite out of all the hair accessories. The ribbon rose is just so beautiful and very easy to make. I have used 1” Sky Blue colour satin ribbon, white lace (from my Stash), green gross grain ribbon, pearl, black ponytail band (from my hair accessories stash), needle, thread and the best Silicon glue.
Lets see how this beauty is created.
1. I started by folding the right bottom corner to the upper edge and then using a straight tweezer coiled the corner upto ½”.
2. Holding the coiled edge I started stitching (running stitch) the upper edge upto the folded corner.
3. Once the upper edge was secure with the running stitch, I folded the ribbon backward along the vertical edge.
4. And then the new formed edge was again folded diagonally as in step 1 to meet the upper edge.
5. Again I secured this open edge by running stitch.
6. I continued doing step 3 & 4 few more times and then slowly pulled the thread from the starting point against the ribbon to form gathered petals as in the picture above.
7. Again I repeated steps 3 – 6 till I achieved desired no of petals for the Rose. The last petal was then secured by a knot and the extra ribbon was cut. Lastly I started coiling the rose with my hand from the beginning point making sure that the base is flat and not conical. The last petal was secured using silicon glue.
Now let’s assemble the entire band.
8. To give a base to the ribbon rose I had used a white cotton lace from my stash. I started with running stitch on the upper edge.
9. Once the desired length was achieved, I pulled the thread from the beginning point and formed a gathered flower. The end edge was stitched to secure it.
10. I had used the green gross grain ribbon to give a contrast colour and look of leaves. Just made simple loops as shown in the picture above and stuck all the layers in the centre using silicon glue.
11. The white lace flower & the green loops where then stitched to the black band. A pearl was used inside the black band behind the white lace flower to secure the stitch. This helped in avoiding the stitch to come off by fraying the band off.
Mini Hair Clip
Mini Hair Clip
For this cute little hair clip I have used satin ribbons - 1” dark
pink, 1” dark green, ½” light pink, pollens, pearls, mini barrette clip 50mm x 5mm, feltsheet and Silicon glue.
So lets see how the clip was made.
For the Light pink flower I have used ½” ribbon and the same
technique of Ribbon Rose as discussed above. The ribbon size being small it
looks a little different from the rose. Had also covered the mini barrette clip
with brown felt sheet.
For the buds I have used 1” Dark pink ribbon.
1. I cut a square out of the 1” dark pink
ribbon. Sealed the edges using a T-light candle.
2. Then folded it diagonally.
3. Again folded it diagonally to get a
smaller triangle.
4. Now holding the ribbon as shown in the
above picture, I started coiling from right corner to the left corner. I maintained
the bottom edge to be flat. Finally secured the end point with silicon glue.
5. Next i added yellow pollens to the bud
using silicon glue again.
6. For fillers I made pearl stems using wire.
For the leaves I have used 1” dark green satin ribbon.
7. I cut 2 pcs of 6 cms long 1” dark green
satin ribbon.
8. Then keeping the wrong side of the ribbon
facing up, folded the top corners to the bottom edge and then secured them by
running stitch. Then pulled the thread against the ribbon to gather the bottom
edge and secured it by a knot.
9. Lastly from the front using a straight
tweezer I pinched the top and stuck it using a T-light candle.
10. Finished Leaf.
Finally for assembling the clip I used silicon glue to stick the
flowers, then leaves, buds and lastly pearl fillers. Refer the picture above.
All these ribbon flowers can be varied in size using different
size ribbons.

Butterfly Tag
Hello & Good
Morning!!!
Firstly wish you all Happy Independence Day...
This is Gopi here and today’s project showcase few wonderful products available at
Itsy Bitsy – Studio G Markers, Kraft Embellishments, Clear Stamps &
Cardstock
So lets get started...
I have used Kraft CS & White CS for the base of the tag.
Kraft CS size: 3 ¼’ x 6 ¼’ and the white CS size: 3’ x 6’.
Firstly I scribbled the Pink & Wine (just 2-3
strokes) markers on my craft sheet and mist water to it.
Then laid the white
cardstock into the colour and made sure the entire tag is coloured pink. Lastly
used the hest gun to dry the colour.
The same process was repeated using the Yellow, Forest &
MidNight marker and heat set after every layer.
Next, using a script clear stamp (from my stash) & blackarchival, I randomly stamped the tag.
Then using the Script stencil added a little more element to
the tag. This was done by scribbling the
marker on the craft sheet and using a felt piece picked the colour and apply it
to the tag through the stencil.
Thereafter white gesso was sprinkled using a painting brush.
The edges of the tag were distressed using a scissor and highlighted
with the yellow marker.
The sentiment used is from the the clear stamp set - Love Sentiments and was
stamped using black archival ink. Each word was then cut and edged using the
light pick marker.
The tag was then attached to the Kraft CS base using tacky
tapes. To embellish the tag, kraft embellishment – glitter butterflies was used.
While sticking
the butterflies, golden thread is used to highlight the tag.
Lastly sentiments
were added to the tag using double sided tape.
To give a finishing touch to the tag, a coordinating ribbon
along with the golden thread is attached.
Overall it was such a fun creating this tag. The studio Gmarkers are very smooth to use. They come in 2 variants – Bullet tip (thick
& strong tip) & Brush tip (soft)
Do try out the products and the techniques used here and
post your creations.

Passport Holder - With Love
Fellow Crafters,
Step by Step Procedure
Unlike the usual CAUTION Message, this time couple of words on the Silicon glue
This is Remya here and today, we would have a look into a crafty Passport Holder.
While you are on travel, one thing that you do not want to miss is your Passport - the only document to prove your existence outside your motherland. You may also want to keep it very safe. Have seen lot of people trying many ideas to make sure that you don"t miss your Passport - right from a passport cover till keeping the passport in bag hanging around ones neck. This gave me an idea to create some thing unique - Passport holder - With Love. How pleasing it would be if you carry your proof of identity in a holder hand made by you. Here the Passport Holder has been made with nothing but Pattern Paper & Cardstock.
Cutting to the chase, lets discuss on how to make it.
Step by Step Procedure
All starts with the Cardstock which is going to be your basic raw materiel in this project. As a first step we need to create the base of the Passport Holder. Cut a Cardstock measuring 8 x 5.75 inches - detailed measurements marked in the picture
Then comes the inner pocket for the holder for sliding the start and end pages of your passport. For the inner pocket cut two Cardstock measuring 1.75 x 5.75 inches
Since the inside of the pockets would also be visible in this project, before attaching the inner pockets paste pattern paper on the side using Silicon glue. It adds to the beauty and brings in a completeness !
Unlike the usual CAUTION Message, this time couple of words on the Silicon glue
With the vast supply of adhesives available, silicone adhesives stand out. It offers flexibility and the being bottled with high nozzle , making them idle for application on any surface without getting messy and has a delayed hardening time which helps you do minor alterations to your plan if it does not get executed as expected.
Once the interiors are done , time to work upon the external beauty of this passport holder. Used Pattern papers from the Mixed company paper stack to decorate the front and rear flaps !! I would suggest to pep up your creative mind to identify which Pattern Paper suits your style and likes. I chose denim pattern for mine here.
Once the Pattern Papers are stuck on to the card stock, we would obviously have to start decoration of the pages. Decorated the front flap using some gorgeous Itsy Bitsy embellishments like tags, flowers, Epoxy stickers and a cute little button too. I love the simplicity it exudes by itself. Moreover, since this is a Passport Holder and would be frequently used when you are travelling, we should chose the embellishments which may not get damaged with frequent usage.
A Passport and Passport Holder would be connected to lot of good things and may be a gateway for some fond memories, all of which, would be very dear to you and close to your heart. If you were planning to gift this to a friend or acquaintance, you may not want to gift am empty holder. Here I have made a cute card with pattern papers stuck on to the Cardstock, which measures a tad higher than the size of the Passport front page - 5.5 x 3.75 inches. Have used the Epoxy Stickers and some ribbon along with some self adhesive beads to enhance the beauty of the card.
Passport sits cosy inside the holder along with this sweet little card.
A few more snaps of this Passport Holder
Hope you enjoyed this !!
Happy Crafting !!
