"Once upon a time" mini album in a box feat. Pebbles Homemade stack by Jen Hadfield

Here's wishing you a very happy 2017!

Hope you are having a creative start to the new year. I am Suchi, here today with my first post on the Itsy Bitsy blog (yay!)--an altered mobile phone case which houses a skinny mini album. This match-box case measures 3.25x7.5 inches--and holds a 3x6 inch mini album with a no-gusset binding.

The papers are from the delightful Pebbles Homemade stack by Jen Hadfield. The collection is a burst of peppy mint, peach, mustard, and coral, balanced by black and white patterns (the houndstooth and chevron patterns are featured here). Burlap flowers from the IB Mix Media range and Boutique Elements Handmade flowers in Orange made for perfect embellishments with this collection.
I snipped a branch off the flower spray chipboard cut-out and layered it under the flowers.
The sentiment printables were printed on copy paper--I mounted them on black cardstock and inked the edges with Itsy Bitsy Pigment Ink in Yellow.

Valentines waterfall album

Hello Crafty Souls,

Happy New Year , 

I am all excited to be a part of the Itsy Bitsy Design Team yet again this Term (Jan 17- june 17) !

I have always been a Big Fan of Itsy Bitsy stores and even till date I love to Shop at the stores more than Online , this is where it all started and now taking this to yet another Level... 

Thanks to Rashmi for having me over !

Today I am here to share a Valentines Theme Waterfall Album , I am a big Fan of mini albums and this ones my all time favorite ! 

I have used 1 piece of 12" x 8" firm card stock - for the cover (BLACK) and adhered them with Pattern papers from HEART 12X12 INCH STACK PACK

I have used the Scalloped Flower die and created these roses for the album cover , this flower die is super sharp to cut and easy to assemble :)

I have used thin cut scalloped Circle dies in the background along with chipboard elements and completed the cover page 

Now moving toward How I decorated the album inside 

Further for the waterfall folio inside I have Cut 4 pieces of Red card stock at 4 x 4 1/2 inches. Scored the card stock at 4 inch and folded them to layer on each other 

Up close of the water fall and patterned paper used. 

You can make a pocket for the inside left side of the book. I cut a solid piece of card stock at 5 1/2 x 4 1/2. I scored on the 5 inch and 1/2 inch side. I put the non scored side diagonally in the paper trimmer to give it the pocket effect. I cut a piece of patterned paper slightly smaller to place on the front of the pocket. 

Here is the inside with the pocket attached. 

This is a fun pocket holding the tags. Up close of the pocket and tags. I added a Chipboard embellishments and lace to jazz up the pocket. I cut out 2 tags using tag die.

I totally love the stack pack collection as they are perfect for the V day creations isnt it ?

Crafter in The Spotlight 31 - Itsy Bitsy

Hello Crafty Folks,firstly let me wish you all a fantastic & fabulous 2017! Today, I am here to feature an extremely talented crafter who probably needs no introduction! It’s none other than Dr Sonia Suprabha Venugopal !

The ENT surgeon who has received the best ENT award from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in the year 2002, took to crafting to de-stress during her Post graduation at AIIMS! Dr Sonia is extremely creative, energetic & an inspiration to the Crafting Community!

Despite her busy schedule, Dr Sonia manages to find time to craft, blog & also is usually the first one to comment & encourage fellow crafters & bloggers! J Way to go Sonia!

I have interacted with her on a number of occasions & i find her to be an extremely nice person as well, a complete package indeed! J It looks like Dr Sonia has passed on her creative genes to Prisha, her daughter who is already quite a famous little crafter! J

Paper Crafting is what this crafter loves the most but is not restricted to it & is keen on trying out other forms of craft as well!

What is Dr Sonia’s tip for fellow crafters, her favourite quote, how would she contribute to crafting world if she had magical powers?? To know all these & to know more about her interesting journey & to see a step by step project of hers, please read the interview & leave your comments for her.

Here are excerpts of my interview with Dr Sonia Suprabha:

Rashmi Closepet, MD, Itsy Bitsy : Tell us a bit about yourself & your background? 

Dr Sonia Suprabha : I am an ENT Surgeon hailing from Kerala and now happily settled in namma Bengaluru! Have been a die hard Itsy Bitsy fan right from the day I stepped into the Banashankari branch of Itsy Bitsy many years ago!

RC: How did you get into crafting?

SS: During my post-graduation at AIIMS Delhi, we had extremely strenuous duties often clocking 48-72 hrs at a stretch and I found it really hard to unwind post duty. One day I picked up an emboss painting kit from a local fancy store and found to my delight how relaxing art and craft could be! Since then crafting has been a proven way for me to de-stress and relax!

RC: What is your favorite type of craft?

SS: Papercrafting, but I love to dabble in a little bit of everything!

RC: What are your favorite products at Itsy Bitsy?

SS: The huge range of papers.

RC: If you had magic powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world?

SS: Though for me personally crafting is strictly a hobby, there are so many people for whom crafting is a profession. If I had a magic wand I would love to help these small businesses flourish and thrive.

RC: Your prized possession in your craft stash from Itsy Bitsy?

SS: My Big Shot and all the dies I have picked up from Itsy Bitsy over the years.

RC: How would you describe your style of crafting?

SS: I don’t have a fixed style of crafting as I am happiest when I try out new products and projects!

RC: How do you organize your time for crafting?

SS: Hehe this is the question a lot of people from our crafting industry have asked me! I don’t have a fixed routine and due to my professional commitments and home scenario I have to utilize short stretches of time and so a simple card may take a whole week to complete!

RC: Tips for people who want to craft?

SS: Enjoy crafting per se and keep aiming to improve. You don't need wildly expensive materials to create a masterpiece and don't feel guilty about shopping for craft supplies!

RC: Your all -time favorite quote?

SS: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder

Here is a gorgeous project by Dr Sonia & step by step description:

Sharing a simple mini Christmas Tree made out of the most basic of craft supplies ribbons!

You can use ribbon of any width depending on how large a tree you want to make. Here I used  red and green 1cm wide satin ribbon and cut it into strips around 2.5 cm long.

You can use a scissors or a nifty tool a picked up from Itsy Bitsy called a Ribbon cutter to get a clean un-frayed cut ribbon edge. To stick the ribbon you can use a Glue gun or Silicon glue. Also shown in the picture is one of my favorite tools from Itsy Bitsy a Star Foam punch. Itsy Bitsy Foam punches are fantastic to quickly cut out shapes from foam.

Twist and glue the ends of the ribbon.To form a cone,cut out a  piece from a  semicircle of card stock.

Glue or staple the Cardstock into a conical shape and stick the pieces of ribbon using Silicon glue or a Glue gun. Stick a small pencil inside the cone and insert it into a bottle cap with the help of clay

2016 has been an exciting, memorable & an incredible year for Itsy Bitsy & we are grateful for that!  We continued our crafting journey with many firsts & proud moments along the way!

Our 2^nd store in Chennai opened in Velachery. Our 10^th store in Bangalore opened in Yelahanka New Town. We re-located our stores in Mumbai & Pune. We currently have 18 brick & mortar stores with presence in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Goa & Hubli & there are lot more in the pipeline!

We also re-launched our website last year with added features for easy navigation!

We launched an amazing number of new & exciting products like Stencils, Colour Splash Spray, Chipboard Shapes, 12x12 Paper Packs, Shaker Elements, Thin Cut dies, Clear Stamps, Crochet Laces, & Embellishments in our own brand, “Little Birdie”. These have been very well received & we thank each & every one of you for the overwhelming response!

Itsy Bitsy also made its entry into the social media with a bang. The Facebook group has 11K+ members & growing. We also launched “Crafter in the Spotlight” feature to introduce & feature talented crafters week after week & seeing so much talent and creations has been both an enriching & humbling experience!

We also re-launched our blog & had our first Design Team in July 2016.

We sincerely thank our blog co-ordinator the very talented Tanvi (I really enjoyed working with her & she will be missed), Lekha Jain, Remya & Gopi for all their creative contributions & wish them well in their crafting careers. I would also like to thank Sharada for her contribution not just to the blog but also to our Facebook group as the group co-ordinator. She too has made a commendable contribution & the good news is she continues to stay with us for this term as well! She is like a permanent UN member! J

1.   Juhi Khanna: A semiconductor engineer turned entrepreneur! Juhi really needs no introduction but let me give it to you anyway! J Juhi who moved from India to Singapore, recently moved to the United States & lives in California! She is well known for her gorgeous cards! She has a 4 year old daughter who loves paper crafting as much as her mom & they have loads of fun crafting together!

2.   Sharada Dilip Acharya: A MBA finance graduate from Bangalore, Sharada took to crafting 6 yrs. ago & there has been no looking back since! Her current passions are Albums, Bookbinding, Stamping & Mixed Media. She loves to make her projects soft & feminine being a soft person that she is! J Lot of layering & attention to detail she says is her strength.

3.   Angela Jose: A mom to a 3 year old resides in Kolar, Karnataka. She is an electrical engineer but is passionate about crafting & loves to engage herself creatively whenever she gets time! This Paper crafter & blogger is very versatile, loves DIY & her creations she says are minimalistic yet functional! J

4.   Suman Pandit who hails from New Delhi dons many hats. She is a Vastu consultant, an astrologer & a writer. She loves Mixed Media & Altered Art as it gives her the creative freedom to experiment. She loves using twigs, burlap & other organic materials in her creations! She is fascinated by faces, leaves & birds & uses them as focal points.

5.   Suchismitha Chatterjee Dutta lives with her husband in Hyderabad & works at a professional services firm as a business editor. Travelling & treasuring those lovely memories in her handmade albums got her into the crafting world! Junk Journals happens to be her new addiction!

6.   Roshini from Hyderabad, a mom for a cute and naughty little 4yr boy (her hero J) is a passionate crafter since childhood. She comes from the glitzy world of film making! She loves experimenting & making her hands messy with all type of mediums but is totally in love with mixed media and altered art! She says she puts her heart & soul into every project of hers!
