Suspended Flowers in a Panel
It's the last day of the month and the last day to enter your projects into our Pattern Paper Challenge. So I thought we could end the month with one final card that showcases some of the amazing pattern papers on offer here at ItsyBitsy. I call it the Suspended Flowers Card.
Why is it called so? Because of the little panel I made and the 3 little sparkle florets suspended in this window. Here is a look at the card when it's open along with a close up of the window so that you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about.
Don't you just LOVE that pattern paper. I got it from the DCVW group of papers and the best part about shopping for PPs from ItsyBitsy is that you don't have to spend two grand and buy the whole stack. No, you can just pick and choose the papers you want from each stack in the quantities you would like.
I've done a video tutorial on how I made this card. You can watch it below. All the supplies are from ItsyBitsy especially that gorgeous bloom - now that's sure to spruce up ANY card on offer.
Send in your entries quickly folks for the Pattern Paper challenge, we have just a few hours before we close submissions and look out for a very exciting event which we will be announcing tomorrow!

The little Red Chicken - Guest post by Shruti (ArtsyCraftsyMom)
As you know ItsyBitsy is India's leading hobby and crafts supplies retailer and our most popular range of products is general crafts or kids craft. Many a mom in many a city has made many a project using our range of pompoms, pipecleaners and craftsticks and no one does it better than Shruti of ArtsyCraftsymom.com. We are mighty pleased to announce that Shruti will doing a guest post for us each month. So without delay over to Shruti!
I love surprises and there was one waiting for us when I reached home from Office. A Box full of goodies from the Itsy Bitsy store. There were pompoms, icecream sticks, coloured match sticks, pipe cleaners, foam circles, googly eyes, feathers and many other goodies. We couldn't wait to craft with them.
Goodies from the Itsy Bitsy store |
We started off with a blank chart paper, A3 in size. Then used a water colour pencil to give a light blue wash.
The coloured icecream sticks stood straight as a picket fence.
We used craft glue (Fevicol) to get the sticks to stick on. It took some time.
Plain sticks placed horizontal formed the railings

Next we made the sun .. A yellow coloured paper circle with some red matchstick rays

We took two brown pipe cleaners, bent them in half and then twisted the ends to form a tree.
Stuck this in between the craft sticks.
The tree wouldn't stick using fevicol, so we had to use a glue gun to set it in place.

Do you know the best part about pom poms? They turn into this fuzzy downy mass that's awesome to craft with. We cut two green large pom poms in the middle to make some fluffy leaves for our tree.

Add some oversized flowers to make the fence prettier. We used corrugated flowers and stuck tiny pompoms in the center.

Next we cut the green pipe cleaner to form the stalk of the flowers.

To give the final touches, we cut two blue pompoms to make some clouds.
Then we roughly cut out some green crepe paper and stuck it at the bottom to form the grass.

The foam circles formed the little red hen .. and fluffy yellow tail feathers completed our picture

Ta-da and we were done .. Now isn't that a pretty picture to make with your kids too?
I sure had lots of fun making it with my 6 year old daughter, Lil P :)

A Masculine Musical Card
It's not easy to create a masculine card - no butterflies, flowers, lace and other pretty little trims that are the essence of our creations. So this post is all about making a manly card and I've used the ItsyBitsy Music Embossing folder for the project.
First of all the color scheme is black and white - no pretty pinks and lavenders. Then the embossed design is music bars and signs. That's neutral and not particularly feminine. Finally, get a load of that bow. Those who are familiar with my work know that I just have to add a bow to most of my projects so this time I made it a 'manly' bow. Watch my video tutorial to see how I created it.
This is the inside of the card. I embossed the music bar design on the top and bottom and added this beautiful sentiment. It's from one of my favorite Neil Diamond songs and reads:
You are the sun,
I am the moon,
You are the words,
I am the tune,
Play me...
Isn't it just beautiful... LOVE IT! Here's the video tutorial of how I made this card. You can use the same technique of using sketch pens on embossed designs with any embossing folder. It's a great way to add your personal touch to a card project.
Thanks for watching and would love to hear your comments and views on this card.
