The Magic of Spellbinders

As you may know, ItsyBitsy recently introduced Spellbinders Dies at the store. Spellbinders can very easily be called the very best dies in the world and we're stocking 48 wonderful options. They come in a variety of different designs and have fabulous capabilities - you can cut, emboss and stencil with them making them extremely versatile and giving you great value for your buck. In keeping with our Two's Company theme this month, I have made a card and envelope both using the Spellbinders Kaleidoscope Pendant Die. 

The card I've made is pretty straightforward, what I really had fun with was the envelope. I am a firm believer in matching envelopes so with this one I really went town and this awesome Spellbinders Kaleidoscope was my vehicle.

This is the other side of the envelope. Isn't it gorgeous how the card design is incorporated on the envelope flap? Love it love it love it. The great thing about this die is that it had 3 complementary components and I made sure to incorporate all of them in my entire project. 

This is how the pair looks when you turn the envelope around. Striking and attractive, wouldn't you agree. Watch this space for a tutorial on this project where I will show you in detail, how I made that gorgeous envelope flap.

Winners of the ItsyBitsy KISS Challenge

 Folks! We had 115 entries - 115 truly outstanding entries and it took us 4 days to evaluate them properly and we're happy to say that we have chosen our winners. The challenge was to Keep it Simple and Sweet so the winning creations are the ones stayed true to the essence of this diktat.

So without further delay our two winners are - Hussena for this gorgeous single layered creation and Anusha Vamsee for her gorgeous embossed/ distressed card. We are totally in awe of your work! Hussena - by just stamping and coloring, you have captured the KISS challenge perfectly and the overall look of the card is just fabulous. Anusha, the level of technique you have displayed by shading the embossed detail is mind-boggling and you kept it simple with just a single flower!

On to our finalists. Once again, these are the creations that were simple and fantastic. There may have been other submissions that were totally fabulous but these are the ones we felt stayed true to the challenge requirements. In no particular order, here are the finalists:

Bhawana for these gorgeous little Christmas and New Year cards. So cute and so clever - a great start to a new city and a new life!

Deepti Stephens for this awesome little red and white number. This was one of our early submissions and I was admiring it for most of the month.

Qie - what can I say, these lovely lemony tags are so refreshing and vibrant, they make me want to go to a Tropical Paradise!

The cool pleasing tones on Kavitha's blue delight are just divine. Lovely the digi and just adore the pattern papers!

Sindhu, Sindhu, Sindhu - what you accomplished by stamping with distress ink is going to be new technique for the rest of us crafters. Your tags look like pattern papers and the restraint you have showed with just the 3 pearls is fantastic!

Saumya - you are a one classy crafter! These book marks are so very cute. Just a little embossing and an adorable stamp is all it takes to make a masterpiece!

The ItsyBitsy Two's Company Challenge

Crafters! Once again we had a stellar response to our Kiss Challenge. 115 entries! Fabulous work! We were also thrilled to see a number of first time bloggers/ challenge entries on the list. That makes us very happy as the goal of this entire exercise is to bring out the crafter in just about everyone!

Now on to our next challenge. I'm sure you'll agree that good things so often come in pairs - like mom and dad, ice-cream and cones, birthdays and parties etc. So in honor of the power of 2, we are asking you to create something with a complementary supporting addition. A set of two creations that match/ complement each other. Perhaps a bag with a matching tag, or a card with a matching envelope or an easel chest of drawers with a matching box, which is what I made as inspiration for this challenge. 

I've done a video tutorial on how to make the chest of drawers easel card as well as the box.  You can visit our Tutorials Page and watch them at leisure. The girl in the picture and the sentiments are digi's that I fussy cut and colored. Here are a few more photographs of the pair.

So here are your challenge guidelines:

• Your submission must be a pair of handmade creations and one should support/ complement the other. Submitting 2 matching cards is not what we're looking for. There has to be one main creation and the another that matches or complements it. 
• If we feel something doesn't quite fit our guideline, we will not consider it for evaluation.
• The contest closes at midnight on 31st December 2012.
• In order to submit your entry, click on the inlinkz button provided at the bottom of this page, add your image and link to your blog post containing the submission.
• Each participant can submit a maximum of 3 entries. 
• Participants can withdraw entries at any time before the contest closes by deleting their own submission.
• Submitting old projects is not permitted. All submissions have to be created after 1st December 2012.
• In your blog post, create a link back to this page - The ItsyBitsy Two's Company Challenge.
• 2 winners will be selected and will receive a voucher of Rs. 1000 each, redeemable online at www.itsybitsy.in.

Let's go Glam!!

It's the last day of the month and pretty soon December's going to start - the month of parties, evenings out and of course celebrations. So in anticipation I made a couple of glamorous cards and wanted to share them with you.

I made this one using a pearl red card stock overlay with a black glitter foam as the base. I added a gorgeous white knot using some satin ribbon and the roses are all from white card stock which I distressed using some red ink. The pearl strip at the top and bottom was the final touch. 

For this one I started with this gorgeous background from the DCDW Nursery Baby Matstack and added glitter strips, ItsyBitsy roses and a butterfly as embellishments. Love the bling!

Keep it Sweet and Simple for Christmas

A number of you dear blogger friends have made Christmas cards for our KISS challenge and I gotta say, it got me all pumped up to get started on mine. Here are a few of my creations. Have tried to keep them simple but it's really quite a challenge for me at least. 

I guess you could say that I'm a big fan of red bows! Ha Ha - just realized I put them in every card. The wreath in the third card is a digi that I fussy cut and colored and don't you just love the tiny rhinestones in my last card? Here are some of the supplies used, the rest are from my stash.
