Crafter in The Spotlight 40 - Itsy Bitsy

Hello arty-crafty folks,

Thursday is back again and so am I! Today I will introduce another talented crafter in our weekly ‘Crafter in the Spotlight’. This week the lime light is on Pinky Jain from Pune.

A passionate crafter, Pinky says crafting is in her genes which she inherited from her mother who is an innovative thinker. Paper craft has always been Pinky’s favourite and it started with simple things like paper boats. Because Pinky loves craft so much, she feels its destiny that brought her here.

Pinky’s most chosen crafting endeavours are scrapbooking and mixed media. She loves altered art as the technique gives her a chance to use plenty from her stash. But, that’s not all; Pinky loves all things related to crafting.

How did Pinky get into crafting, what inspires her, what are her tips for fellow crafters, her favourite quote, how would she contribute to the crafting world if she had magical powers? Read answers to all these questions, discover more about her interesting journey and catch a glimpse of a step by step project by Pinky in this interview. Don't forget to leave your comments for her.πŸ˜ƒ

Rashmi Closepet, MD, Itsy Bitsy: Tell us a bit about yourself & your background?
PJ: Hello my lovely Itsy Bitsy friends, this is Pinky Jain from Pune. I am a house wife and full time passionate crafter.

RC: How did you get into crafting?
PJ:  Crafting is in my genes as my mother is a great innovative thinker in every aspect, whichever task she puts her hands into. It may be a simple home decor or making mouth watering food and serving it in the most authentic way :)
As a child I loved making things out of paper. Started with simple paper boats...and moved on to designing my wardrobe, unique chocolate bouquets and wedding packing to here. Now into paper crafting and mixed media. Crafting is my passion so destiny automatically brought me into this.

RC: What is your favourite type of craft?
PJ: My favourite crafting is scrapbooking and mixed media. I love making altered art which challenges me to use all my stash into something creative. So to be precise I love everything related to crafting :)

RC: What are your favourite products at Itsy Bitsy?
PJ:  Itsy Bitsy is a fairyland and I am a 2 year old kid...I am in love with all Itsy Bitsy products but if it's to name few, it is flowers, rub on stickers, burlap embellishments and chipboard items.

RC: If you had magical powers, how would you contribute to the Crafting world?
PJ: I believe I already have magical powers with God’s grace.  I am gifted with a creative mind and magical fingers to offer unique projects each time. It's indeed not an easy task to offer such versatile variety of projects.
I want to share my ideas and talents with all crafters at most affordable rates and spread more smiles in the crafty world :)

RC: Your prized possession in your craft stash from Itsy Bitsy?
PJ: My prized possession will always be a dream catcher gifted by Rashmi Ma’am. I’ve treasured it and it's beyond any value for me. I am working on a project with the dream catcher which is a priceless possession for me.

RC: How would you describe your style of crafting?
PJ:  CREATIVE and UNIQUE is my style :)

RC: How do you organize your time for crafting?
PJ:  Sometimes it really gets difficult for me but crafting is definitely my top most priority.

RC: Tips for people who want to craft
PJ: My tip to all my crafty friends is .…help each other grow, share ideas and make this crafting world a beautiful place to be part of :)

Here is a gorgeous project by Pinky  & step by step description:

I am going to make a square clock.

Supplies used from Itsy Bitsy- stencil, gesso, color and splash color

I stenciled the base and top layer of the frame with modelling paste.

First I arranged the gears as I wanted them, then I gessoed everything.

I painted the sides black.

I sprayed colour in the center until I got the desired effect.
Then using my secret recipe, I made some inka gold with supplies from Itsy Bitsy and applied it randomly to the desired areas.

Here I am ready with the handmade clock for my home :)πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
